Statement on the occasion of International Day of Women in Diplomacy, June 24, 2025.
On the occasion of International Day of Women in Diplomacy 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation proudly joins the global community in recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women in diplomacy.
This year’s theme, “Eliminating Structural Barriers to Women’s Leadership in Diplomacy,” highlights the persistent inequalities that continue to shape global diplomacy. It serves as a powerful reminder of the need to promote gender parity and cultivate inclusive institutions that reflect the diversity of the world we live in and serve.
Women diplomats have played a pivotal role in building bridges across cultures and advancing international cooperation. From negotiating peace agreements to championing human rights, their unwavering commitment, strategic acumen, and moral clarity have left an indelible mark on global affairs.
While in many instances still underrepresented in the diplomatic sphere, the contributions of women across generations as architects of peace, stewards of cooperation, and champions of multilateralism-are now increasingly being recognized and celebrated.
At this critical juncture, we must be unceasing in our collective efforts to transform the diplomatic landscape to create inclusive pathways, and empowering women to lead at every level of international affairs.
Together, we honour the courage, resilience, vision and invaluable contributions of women in diplomacy past and present. As we look to the future, we commit to continuing our work to promote their participation which is essential to building a more just, peaceful, and equitable world.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation continues to celebrates women in the Foreign Service and their contributions in promoting Guyana’s diplomacy in the 21″ century.
