Biometric Passport application information
The government of Guyana is now issuing biometric passports with advanced security features. You can apply for a new passport up to six (6) months before the expiry of your current passport. You must visit the embassy to complete biometric registration to process your application for a new passport.
You must pay via bank transfer at least 3 days before your appointment.
A five (5) year passport costs $100 USD
A ten (10) passport costs $125 USD
Payment should be made by bank transfer. Our bank is the National Bank of Kuwait.

The passport appointment will require fingerprints and a photograph taken on the day.
Please note the following;
- No headpiece or hair covering (with the exception of those worn for religious purposes and only if the full facial features are clearly visible)
- No glasses at the time the photograph is taken.
- Studs/Earring/s not accepted on male applicants’ pictures.
- No White tops (The background will be white, therefore a white top will not be suitable).
Requirements Checklist
Applicants with Machine-Readable Passports (Dark Blue cover passport)
- Completed Application form
- Original Guyana passport
- One (1) legible colour photocopy of the bio-data page of your passport
- One (1) coloured photograph taken within the last 3 months.
- $100 USD for a 5 (five) year passport.
- $125 USD for a 10 (ten) year passport.
- New Passports must be collected in person at the Embassy of Guyana in Kuwait.
- Children under 18 must have a parent present to collect their passport (if the child is not present, authorization from the child is not needed).
Applicants with Non-Machine-Readable Passports (Green or Black Passport) or First-Time Applicants are required to submit all the documents above, along with the following additional documents:
- Original Guyana Birth Certificate/Registration certificate
- Copy of Overseas ID (Passport, Driver’s license)
- Complete the recommender section (Page 3) of the application form
- The recommender is also required to endorse and or stamp the reverse side of the copy of the photograph with the words: “I certify that this is a true likeness of Mr., Mrs. or Miss……………………………………………” and add his or her signature.
- The recommender must have known the applicant for two (2) years or more, but must not be a member of the applicant’s immediate family, including mother, father, husband, wife, uncle, aunt, son, daughter, etc.
If unable to produce another form of ID, a Statutory Declaration from a sibling, parent, or spouse confirming the applicant’s identity, along with a copy of the bio page of the declarant’s passport
Lost/Stolen/Damaged Passports are required to submit all the documents as stated above, along with the following additional documents:
- Lost 5 year Passport $125 USD
- Lost 10 year Passport $150 USD
- Original Birth Certificate / Registration Certificate
- Copy of Overseas ID (Passport, Driver’s license, Residence Permit)
- Police Report or Original notarised Affidavit stating the circumstances under which the passport was lost. Affidavits for lost passports can be done at the Embassy for an additional fee of $25 USD
- Complete the recommender section (Page 3) of the application form
- The recommender is also required to endorse and or stamp the reverse side of the copy of the photograph with the words: “I certify that this is a true likeness of Mr., Mrs. or Miss……………………………………………” and add his or her signature.
- The recommender must have known the applicant for two (2) years or more, but must not be a member of the applicant’s immediate family, including mother, father, husband, wife, uncle, aunt, son, daughter, etc.
Change of Name requests are required to submit all the documents as a machine-readable passport application, along with the following additional documents:
- Original Marriage Certificate and/or Divorce Decree, Birth Certificate of spouse (for married women, including widows and women whose marriages have been terminated).
- Original Registered Deed Poll/Legal Name Change document. If the applicant does not have a Guyana-registered Deed Poll, it is acceptable to submit a Deed Poll that has been enrolled or registered with the competent state authority in the country of residence. For example, persons residing in England and Wales should enrol their Deed Poll with the Royal Courts of Justice.
- Application forms must be filled out in the new name of the applicant
- Copy of another form of valid photo ID that has the new name
- Complete the recommender section (Page 3) of the application form
- The recommender is also required to endorse and or stamp the reverse side of the copy of the photograph with the words: “I certify that this is a true likeness of Mr., Mrs. or Miss……………………………………………” and add his or her signature.

Underage Applicants
Children under 10 years old
- Children under 10 years old will not be required to provide fingerprints or sign on the day of the appointment.
- Children under 10 years old require a parent or legal guardian to provide biometrics, which will also be added to the child’s passport.
- Children under 18 must be accompanied by one or both parents for their passport appointment.
- Both parents must sign the consent section of page 3 and provide photo identification.
- Children under 10 must have a parent collect the passport on their behalf.
- Children under 10 will only obtain a 5-year passport.
Children 10 years old – 17 years old
- Children under 18 must be accompanied by one or both parents for their passport appointment.
- Both parents must sign the consent section of page 3 and provide photo identification.
- Children aged 10 to 17 can obtain a 5-year or 10-year passport.
- Children between 10 and 17 years old must sign their application form. (Signature Box, Page 2)
Photographs
- Photo size: (minimum 32x26mm, maximum 45x35mm)
- Background must be plain white (no shadows).
- No headpiece or hair covering (with the exception of those worn for religious purposes and only if the full facial features are clearly visible).
- No sunglasses.
- Studs/Earring/s not accepted on male applicants’ pictures.
