Excellency,
Thank you very much for your letter dated 10 August 2020 and for inviting me to a conference call with Your Excellency. On behalf of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, I would like to congratulate Your Excellency on assuming office as President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Your election is a manifestation of the people of Guyana’s trust in your vision for the country’s future. I am confident that your term will usher in a new era of social and economic transformation for the country.
I take this opportunity to assure Your Excellency that the IsDB Group stands ready to support the Cooperative Republic of Guyana in its endeavors towards economic, social development and the prosperity of its people.
As Your Excellency may already know, the IsDB has launched a US$2.3 billion comprehensive ‘Strategic Preparedness and Response Program’ (SPRP) package to help its member countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bank’s support is also coordinated with global partners including international financial institutions, Arab Coordination Group and philanthropic organizations.
I have instructed my team to liaise with Your Excellency’s representative at the Guyana Embassy in Kuwait to make necessary arrangements for our call.
I would like to emphasize that the IsDB Group would remain the preferred development partner for the Government of Guyana. Looking forward to conversing with you, please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
